CTIFL is involved in InnOBreed, a project funded by Horizon Europe from July 2022 to June 2026. This project promotes innovative solutions for developing fruit varieties adapted to organic farming, focusing on social innovations, novel ideotypes, and methods for screening resilient cultivars and progenitors.

Project objectives

InnOBreed responds to the challenges of the European agricultural sector by developing robust organic varieties that are tolerant to pests and diseases, productive, of good taste quality and meet consumer expectations. It anticipates future challenges, notably climate change and phytosanitary regulations, and harmonizes variety evaluation methods on a European scale.

The crucial role of the CTIFL

Our equipment plays a crucial role in the InnOBreed project, testing the added value of technical, sociological and non-technical innovations in orchards evaluating organic peach, apricot and apple varieties. These tests enable new varieties to be tested under real-life conditions, and to verify their robustness and productivity.

CTIFL also mobilizes European varietal evaluation networks, enabling us to benefit from a wide range of testing conditions and expertise. The center also uses non-destructive quality analysis tools to assess fruit characteristics, guaranteeing precise evaluation methods that respect the integrity of the samples.
